I hope you guys understand why our President had to declare Martial Law in Mindanao for 60 days. We desperately need it for the safety of the people especially those who are in Marawi City.
Here’s what I know (details from our relatives who live there):
- The Maute group pledged allegiance to the ISIS. Some say they only use the name ISIS to strike terror. (They are not officially affiliated so please refer to them as Maute Group.)
- They took over Amai Pakpak hospital, killed guards and two ambulance drivers, and held other people hostage.
- They burned the city jail and some buildings of Dansalan College.
- Entrance and exit roads from the city are blocked by the Maute group.
- Evacuation is underway.
News that are not mentioned above (beheaded teachers, burned children, etc.) are not yet verified as of 10AM of May 24, 2017. Please do not spread unverified news, they won’t do any good. Friends, let’s pray for Marawi City and for Mindanao.
